Older pattern?

Hello all, I’m hoping to embark on this pattern for my husband “Free Knitting Pattern
Lion Brand® Wool-Ease® Chunky
Adult Raglan Sleeve Pullover
Pattern Number: 80682AD”. So far I have knit two top-down raglans for myself with new patterns that I found relatively easy to understand (with tutorials on youtube). I’m wondering if anybody here can advise me on this particular pattern. It says “easy” but some of the pattern wording is new to me… I’m concerned I’ll get halfway through and not know what the heck I’m doing. Any thoughts, advice, tips?

Good for you for making the top-down sweaters. That’s an achievement for sure.

This sweater is bottom up but should be well within your ability. It’s good to learn to work sweaters both ways. bottom up and top down. We’re always here to help with any stumbling blocks.
It helps to read through the pattern in a general way but often things are clearer when you have sts on the needles.
Do you want to tell us some of wording that is puzzling for you?

Hello
Obviously the best tip is to ask here if or when you get stuck, but you already know that.

One thing I say for a botton up sweater is to check what finished length your husband would like before you start and check that against the finished sweater measurements in the pattern, if you need it longer (or also if your row gauge is different to the pattern) then it’s best to think about that ahead of time. It’s not impossible to add length to a bottom up sweater afterwards but it’s certainly not as easy as adding length to a top down sweater. I tend to like sweaters longer than the pattern length so I add extra in the body before the armholes then jot own on the pattern my measurement and change any others it effects.
Same for sleeves, add extra length below the armhole if it’s needed.

I’m sure you will manage this sweater.

Thank you both! I had not seen your responses until today, sorry for my delay. I will start with confidence and then SURELY ask questions as I go. Meanwhile, I got distracted making socks on 9" circulars which I’m loving!

Those socks are so distracting! I understand. Don’t hesitate to come back if any question comes up as you this pattern.
