Old tires being sold as "Brand New"

Please watch this video and send it to everyone you possibly can. My cousin sent this to me and I am shocked at what these stores can sell you without any regard to human life. The video is just under 10 minutes long, but you need to watch the whole thing. Towards the end it shows you how to decifer the letters and numbers they put on the tires so you know when the tire was actually made, so you can avoid killing yourself and your family. And someone else’s family.

You can also invest in a tire gauger thing which measures the tread. New tires have a certain depth, used ones are less than that.

But this segment shows that they are selling brand new tires that have never been driven but have been on the shelves for up to 12 years they found. They are ‘strongly’ recommended to throw the tire away after 6 yrs on the shelf. The video explains how the tires deteriorate after sitting on the shelves for such a long time. Even if they’ve never been on a car.

I see, I thought you meant used tires being sold as new. Technically, these are `new’ in that they’ve never been driven on, but yes, rubber can deteriorate after some years which is dangerous.

Nope, I wrote ‘old’ tires, not used tires. And yes, it’s extremely dangerous, especially since they don’t have to tell you how long they’ve been on their store shelves. Now I know what to look for to see if they are telling me the truth.
