Okay, besides ebay

…where do you people buy/get/obtain your yarn? I’m so yarn store deprived here in the boondocks of San Bernardino, CA…the nearest one is in Long Beach, an hour and twenty minutes away.

Argh!!! I need a good online yarn store. I’ve been to Knitpicks and am waiting for their catalog (I signed up 3 times for the darned thing and still nothing!) but I kinda want some “brand name” stuff. Not that I’m a yarn snob, but a lot of these free patterns call for Noro Kureyon and Lopi and Cascade and I wanna play with these…

Of course, cheaper is always better.

well i am not help cuz i get pretty much everything i want locally. but as far as the catalog goes, it does take a while to get that first one but hang on…it will come (i just got one today so there should be one on the way!!)

yarn.com (WEBS) has good name brand stuff. I also think elann is a little hit and miss, but you can find stuff there. WEBS is my favorite so far. They have Art Yarns and Malabrigo, which I’m buying. At VERY competative prices.

Good luck!

Ram Wools, which is also one of my LYSs, has a great mail order catalogue and does online sales. If I’m too tired to try and fall asleep doing one of my puzzle books, I’ll curl up with my catalogue!

I absolutely LOVE Kaliedoscope yarns . I’ve ordered from them several times and they have fabulous customer service and even their basic shipping it really fast. I’ve ordered from there on a Thursday and I had my order in hand on Monday. They have a huge selection of yarns.

However, when I want Noro, I order from Wool Needle Work They’ve got great prices esp on Kureyon.

I love knitpicks.com . They have really great prices on their yarns…
Herrschners.com is good also!

You guys are awesome! Thanks for the stores…I shall have loads of fun surfing the net during my prep period today!

How about this place? I found it in the phone book (I am in the desert).

The desert ones are way too far (87 miles according to Mapquest), but the San Bernardino place is doable at only 18 miles from my doorstep. Thanks so much…will maybe pack up the kids for a road trip this weekend.

www.elann.com (love Elann)

http://www.discountyarnsale.com/
(I’ve never ordered from them, but hey it’s ‘name brand’)

knitpicks.com
woolneedlework.com
yarn.com
bopeepswool.com

knitwerx.com
elann.com

are my favorites.

It’s on the other side of the country from you but this relatively new yarn store has great sale prices and good delivery… I like them a lot:

http://yarnware.com/

Then Ingrid turned me onto this store, I haven’t ordered from them yet but they have FREE shipping right now:

http://www.yarnia.com/

Wheee! It’s all about the free shipping! That Ingrid! She’s my knitting goddess! Thanks for the tip…I’m off to shop now.

And to eveyone else: you guys are the best! This place makes me feel so supported and appreciated…it makes up for not having a SnB group/LYS/support center anywhere near me. Too bad I’ll never get to meet y’all in person.

Yarnware is one of my favorite sites to get yarn! In fact, I just ordered 10 skeins of Plymouth Classics: Encore D.K. for under 40$ and thought that was a pretty good deal.
I like patternworks.com too, but the prices there are a little more expensive.

I’ve recently ordered from both Jimmy Bean’s Wool and Patternworks:

http://www.jimmybeanswool.com/

Just placed an order yesterday to yarnware.com. I’m brand new at this site and noticed someone’s recommendation for Yarnware and decided to give them a try.

I’m fortunate to live within 50 miles of yarn shops, however, being slightly agoraphobic (LOL), I don’t get there as often as I’d like. My husband is probably happy, though, as the last time I yarn-binged, I dropped $200 in a nano-second! Then I came home and ordered from Jimmy Beans – you know what I mean, the yarn shop didn’t have everything I needed!

Well, I’m on a NO YARN buying budget right now, but I still loved looking at all these sites youall named. To add a few more–I love littleknits.com I think they’re in Washington state, but oh so NICE!! I always check the Herrschnerrs.com (sp?) site–they have sales online every week. :inlove:

littleknits
yarnia
patternworks
elann
herschnerrs
knitpicks of course

yarnworks looks tasty good too!
