Because you’d be an idiot to make a whole purse strap in it on tiny DPN (size 2.25 mm or 1 US) it’s making me insane!!! thankfully it’s for a little girl but Oi all I’m seeing is tiny green stitches! Oi why me!:gah: :thud:
yes, I also can’t stand making icords.
they are just so time consuming. usually, when told to make an icord, I will just crochet it instead. A chain of the desired length followed by a row of single crochet is usually all you need.
some people like to make a “crocheted icord” which is basically a long tube of single crochet, but that is just about as monotonous as a knitted icord.
I would like to get one of those littl looms that makes the icord for you, I guess all you have to do is put the first few stitches in the little… thingy and then you turn a crank. It does the work for you, but I have not seen one in any store.
but yes, I do not like making icords either. I had to make 2.5 feet of icord for a christmas present last year(which really isnt very much compared to a lot of patterns) and I swore NEVAH AGAIN.
Well, I’ll be odd man out… I love I cord, I think it adds a nice “finished” touch to bags and projects. I usually make it in front of the TV when I don’t have to pay attention, or in the car (while riding).
I have to say that I don’t really mind them either…don’t have to pay attention to what I am doing

I sometimes make a crochet cord by making a long chain, twist it and then fold it in half so it twists on itself.A lot easier than doing sc.s in the chain.
I don’t particularly [I]enjoy[I] doing it, but I suck it up and do it anyway because I like the results. I don’t find myself in many situations where I make an iCord by itself, I mostly just work iCord edgings on my projects.
I kind of enjoy doing I-cord. It’s simple, it looks cool, and I can crank it out while watching TV without worrying about losing my place.
Then again, I’m pretty much of a process knitter . . .
That’s the difference between you and me. I’m a results knitter. I’ll do pretty much anything it takes, no matter how monotonous, to get the results I want. But there are just some things that I won’t do.

I like it… But then again I’ve taught my little sis how to make it for me. 
I don’t mind the actual knitting of them, but I don’t seem to be very good at it. My I-cord always seem twisty. I’m noy even sure if it is supposed to or not.
yeah, I would rather just knit a 5 stitch (or whatever size) stockinette tube than do i-cord… and i hate doing that too. I very rarely get to ride in the car but when I was doing i-cord in the car i did end up with a GINORMOUS i-cord because i zoned out…lol.
but my real preference is to find a funky belt or something else to use as a handle. anything that will keep me from stitching one.

You know, I really don’t have the time to sit down to make I-cord, but I know how to do it. My mom doesn’t really know how to knit, but when I showed her how to use the spool to make an I-cord, she stole it from me because she had lots of fun sitting in front of the TV making one. And now that I know that there is a hand-cranking spool to make an I-cord, I think I may be making more I-cord in the near future. Nicky Epstein’s books have some really neat ideas for making frogs and other things that use I-cord. Maybe I’ll try more of those techniques now that I know about that hand-cranking I-cord maker. I don’t particularly enjoy making i-cord by itself, but I like doing applied i-cord edging. It looks way more attractive to me, and it’s more interesting than knitting it plain. I’m a process knitter, but it has to be a more interesting process, ya know?
