What happened?? Finally after 2 days of unintentionaly making an extra stitch by not watching where my yarn was when swapping from knit to purl knit to purl, It clicked last night. So I once again for the 45th time started over on this TINY change purse for my grandmothers Xmas present( GOOD thing I started early huh?lol) and am almost done with the main part of it and realized that I had purled a stitch in the knit row… SOOO I took my needle out and put it back in a couple rows down like the video showed here and thought all was well and went on to purl and knit another couple rows… and when I turned around to purl another row… I realized I had a GAPING hole on the end… Did I drop a stitch? I tried watching the video about how to fix a dropped stitch, but the video shows it in the middle of your work, and I wasnt even sure if this IS a dropped stitch… Please help me finish this before the year 2010!!
i can’t tell, pic is too blurry.
I can’t really tell from the photo. Try taking it just a little further away so it’s not so blurry.
ok,here ya go…
ok,here ya go…
I’m not sure that that’s repairable. I’d unknit back a few rows to below that. Sorry!
when you say unknit, do you mean pull out again??
Unknit or tink means to go back stitch by stitch. If you pull the whole thing out you run the risk of not being able to get the stitches back on again or having them twisted.
You don’t have to pull the entire thing out to unknit. Since it’s small, you can slip your left needle into the stitch below the one on the right needle and pull out the loop. Keep doing that across the rows until you get past the spot with the problem.
OK!! I Did it!! I went back( had to go back a few times, b/c my mind was wandering and I would purl when I was suppost to knit, etc etc…) but that tip SAVED my project MANY times tonight! THanks!!
Im done knitting, need to work my ends and put the button on for it!!( probably gonna add a TEEENNNY little zipper to the inside to keep her change from falling out( she wears a smock like scrub top at work, and keeps change handy in her front pocket… so what better first project/xmas gift for her!) then Ill post pics! Im so excited to have it done, Ill probably finish it up Friday night when we return from the holiday!
I find that unknitting something is a fix that I use time, and time again. sure it’s a pain, but it’s slightly less of a pain then having to rip out and start from scratch
Knitting and gnittink.
Sometimes you knit and sometimes you tink.
Makes you enjoy the yarn many times!
