I just finished my 3rd scarf. I used Lana Grossa Gnocchi for it.
It was a complete PITA to do, but it was quick and it looks amazing!!! (just don’t look too closely at it or you’ll see where I made the big boo boo. LOL.
Anyways, now I have nothing OTN :pout: and I have no idea what to start now. I want to do something with some actual shape but at the moment I only own straight needles and can’t get to the LYS to buy some circs until Thursday.
What can I make thats not a scarf???

there are lots of things that are knit flat. On circs you CAN knit in the round, sometimes. For most the knitting in the round you use dpn (or circs, or magic loop on dpn, or 2 circs of the same needle size)… all that.
You can make most pullovers, jackets, and so on on straight needles.
So: your limitations are small.
There even is a method for knitting in the round (seamlessly) on straight needles. If you want to do that: check youtube, I think there are instructions on there.
I would recommend a hat or mittens since they are quick and fit the season - maybe make them matching your scarf? Then it is a ful winter set.
I guess you may be more limited by yarn stash than needles?
I think my limitations are more about my rookie-ness.
I keep finding patterns I like but they all call for circular needles and I’m nowhere near smart enough to figure out how to alter the patterns to do them on straights. LOL.
How about some simple socks? It doesn’t take very long to knit a “footie” sized sock, and there are patterns online for knitting them flat - they just require some seaming up when you’re finished knitting. Or, how about some wrist warmers, fingerless mitts, or a fancy smancy bracelet. (I made several of those for my niece last year - she loved them! I used pretty yarns, some cables/lace stitches, and beads.) Those are good ways to try out new stitches and are quick to knit.
This one is useful & interesting. If you haven’t tried increases, decreases & short rows…this is a great pattern to learn all of them. It’s a “Teeny-Weeny Garter Stitch Coaster Pattern”. :knitting:
Don’t worry if you don’t have the same size needles or the same yarn (it’s great with cotton, but I did some in cheap red heart, too)…it’s just a coaster my friend…who cares what size it ends up:roflhard:
I found a pattern for fingerless mittens that I really like so i’m back to getting my knit on. LOL.
The yarn I’m using is different then what it calls for but I just love this yarn. I know the stitches won’t be as visible, but hopefully it still looks okay when they’re done. Either way it’s good practice for me.
