Oddball Pet Snuggles - Cotton or Acrylic Yarn

I’m ready for my part, mail away!

I’ll be going to the post office this Friday!

Last night, I completed the first section of “Puppy Love”.
jdee, are you ready to add your part?

 Send it on. I’ll be waiting.

This morning, I finished the first section of our 3rd snuggle, “Kitty Cuddles”. Are you ready for it, Spikey?

I used one strand of Cottontots in Lilac, and one strand of Lily Sugar & Cream in Midnight Magic.

Absolutely! Send it on, I can’t wait.

I pulled out some scraps of double worsted peaches & creme over the weekend and made a little catnip-filled toy for our boys. They love it! Great yarn choice!

 1. I have a 8 1/2 year old black lab mix named Cisco. Him and DH came as a package deal! :teehee: We adopted an orange tabby cat from a shelter, he is 4 1/2 and named Griffin (after the tv show Family Guy :teehee:).

 2. They eat anything. But Griffin seems to be especially fond of inanimate objects!

Cisco is a 2 time cancer survivor. He had a tumor on his elbow that has been removed twice. The cancer hasn’t spread, but we still keep our eye on him.

After we had Griffin for 2 months, he ate a doorstopper and had to be cut open from stem to stern to have it removed. He’s weird!

I went through a serious bout with depression a few years ago. The animals stayed with me and cuddled and laid at my feet for months. After that I got there actual pawprints tattooed on my back.

Since we might be sending treats for each other’s pets, let’s each take time to respond the following:

 1. What are the names and types of pets you have?
 2. Do they have any requests for a small treat?
 3. Show us a photo of your pets!
 4. Tell us a story about your pet.

I have 3 dogs, who pretty much will eat anything put in front of them.
Otis is the oldest at 9 years old. He is a testy and fat pug. His manners aren’t the best around company so he must be kept away from company.
Storm is next at 5 years old. He is a beautiful black and silver Siberian Husky with steel blue eyes. He is an outside dog since that is where he prefers to be and loves the snow.
Then there is Bo at 3 years old, he came with the DH. He was an inside dog that is thrilled to be able to be outside more since he has come to live with me. I have land to run on. Although he stills enjoys being inside with the family.

I know that I’m late to the party (been out of town), but this is a project near and dear to me. Keep me in mind as a pinch hitter in case you need help or if we start another one please!

Welcome, scrappygolden!
Just send me a private message with your name and mailing address, and you’ll officially be a member!

Everyone, be sure to check out our blog again. I just posted all our pet stories and photos! (I stole a couple of your Flickr photos, so let me know if you want me to remove them.)

:waving: Hi Sandy!
Just wondering if you’ve mailed off the first blanket to me yet?

Not yet…I’ve been SO BAD!!!

I worked on getting all 3 packages together today. I want to add a little treat for everyone’s pets, and I’m finishing those up tonight.

So, all three packages should be sent out by Monday at the latest.
Thanks for checking, Mulderknitter! :muah:

That is so sweet of you! :yay: Just wanted to make sure the postman didn’t run away with a blankie!:roflhard:
My DH likes to lock the front porch where the postman leaves my packages, so I like to let him know approx what days not to lock it, so just send me a pm if convenient so I know to leave that unlocked. I sure would appreciate it!
Thanks again for starting this lovely project, I can’t wait to raid the stash!:blooby:

Yay! I made all the little treats for the pets! :cheering:

All three of you have cats, so I’ve made a catnip toy for each of them!

This morning, I got out the patterns I had found online, and gathered together everything I would need to make them: fiberfill, catnip, bits of yarns, some jingle bells, and knitting needles. (I went out to Walmart last night to get the catnip.)

After getting everything together, I went to the kitchen to make 2 cups of hot tea to get me through my knitting session.

Before long, my first catnip toy was ready to be stuffed!

I put in a jingle bell, then some fiberfill, then some catnip, then more fiberfill, then I stitched it closed. Easy-peasy!

But, I wasn’t thrilled with the look of the garter stitch, and didn’t really enjoy knitting it with two needles. So I made the next one in the round with dpns. MUCH better!

Here’s my third toy, which looks even better than the second!

After making 4 of those little toys, I decided to try a different pattern, but I changed it a LOT, and didn’t like the way it turned out. It took up a lot more yarn, a lot more time, and a lot more seaming and stuffing and catnip. So I only made one of that design.

Before the day was through, I had completed ELEVEN catnip toys! :woohoo:

These will be going to Mulderknitter, jdee, and Spikey, to give to their kitties:
Abby, Annie, Merlin, Morty, Mabel, Max, Mulder, Itchy, Mikey, Spikey, and Luke

Oh my goodness gracious if those aren’t the cutest little things ever!:woot: I sure hope my kitties get one! :woohoo:If you put a jingle bell in there you will be the favoritist kittie pressie gift giver ever! (Itchy likes to be loud!)

Those almost make me wish I was a cat person :teehee:

But…I’ve always been a dog lover. I’ll post my best friend’s picture soon. Can’t wait till it’s my turn!

:thud:Oh my! :inlove:

What wonderful gifts for our boys! They will LOVE them!

I made one very similar to the blue one (but just used up scraps of yarn) and they love it, especially Spikey.

You are too sweet! Thank you.

Awww! Aren’t those the cutest things? You are so sweet to make those for our kittyfriends. :muah: Thank you so much.

I’m so glad you all like the catnip toys!
They were lots of fun to make. :sun:

Of COURSE your kitties are getting some!
And there are jingle bells in every one of them!

:cheering:

You’re welcome!

:woohoo: I got my part today! Thanks Sandy! The candle smells wonderful:muah: And the kitties dove right into those toys!
Here’s a pic of Mulder. Remember past posts where he drowns his mousy toys in his water bowl? Well, the first thing he did was claim one of those little toys as his own!

Thank you!

I guess Mulder was a mob hit man in a past life. That is just too cute.
