Yay!!! I stayed the course with my ugly yarn and Swallowtail, and it turned out fabulous!!! I’m going to wear it to dinner tonight :happydance:
It’s gorgeous! :cheering: It looks beautiful on you. Good job! :cheering: Was the pattern hard? I’ve never tried lace before but want to try something easy the first time. I love the yarn you used!
This is the second lace project I have done. The first was Branching Out. I can’t say it was hard, but I did have to unknit–a few times! The alpaca (one of my favorite yarns) was hairy, and the fibers stuck too much, making it frustrating to go back to fix mis-stitches.
I had a great time knitting it. I wouldn’t say it was hard and I do recommend the pattern. I used a sock yarn and #7 needles, which made it turn out bigger than the pattern suggests. I like it that way!
Wow! It’s absolutely beautiful. It looks so pretty on both you and your daughter.
The trees on your street are really pretty ~ they’re changing colors a little bit like ours do here. Not like back East, but we do have some beautiful colors here in So. Cal.!
I will have to try lace knitting and start on something easy.
:cheering: :cheering: :cheering:
It’s beautiful!!! Great job!! :cheering:
Will you explain about blocking the points? It looks like you basted them to the sheet or whatever it is on.
UGLY??? Oh my lord!! It’s BEAUTIFUL!!!
WOW, hopefully one day I can make something like them!
That turned out gorgeous!! :cheering:
Ohh that COLOR! the detail! You had better have it insured. It is absolutely the most beautiful thing I have seen lately! Awestruck! Fabulous!
Oh my gosh, that yarn is anything but ugly – and the shawl is absolutely gorgeous!
About the blocking:
I threaded a yarn through each point (one continuous yarn) starting at one corner, down to the point, and up to the opposite corner. I left a bit of yarn hanging out each end to sevure later in the process.
Then, I pinned the upper edge really well (right through my bed covers!) After that, I pinned the middle (bottom) point so that the middle spine was straight.
Finally, I secured the corners where I left the yarn hanging out and pulled/pinned the side yarn (strung through the points) a few times until it looked good. I think you can see from the closeup blocking photo that I didn’t have to pin many times on the sides.
One more tip for blocking that I stumbled upon: I have an old towel that has a stripe texture. I love it for blocking, because I just line up the edges on the stripes and they turn out perfectly straight and even without a single measurement!!
How beautiful! :cheering:
that looks absolutely great
I love it when something turns out better than expected!! :cheering:
Your shawl is just lovely
It looks beautiful and I love the yarn colors. How much sock yarn did it take?
It is GORGEOUS! I love it, love the colorway, it’s stunning :cheering:
that is absolutely stunning!! (and clever blocking tips)
Absolutely LOVELY!!!
STUNNING!!!
