Does “yarn foward” (YF) mean I have to bring the yarn forward or not. Please, can you elaborate on this?

Yes, it means to bring the yarn forward as you do when you purl. Sometimes if you knit the next stitch it creates a yo, or it’s in position to slip the next stitch, whatever the pattern wants you to do next.
