# Not enough stitches?

Beginner. What am i missing here?
CO 11 sts.
Row 1: K3, K2tog, YO, K1, YO, SSK, K3
Row 2 and 4: K2,P7,K2
Row 3: K2, K2tog,YO,K3, YO,SSK,K2

Starting in Row 1 I end up with not enough stitches. Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong?

Hi. Welcome to KH. How many stitches do you end up with?

K3 - 3 sts
K2tog - decrease 2 sts to 1 for 4 sts
yo - will count as a st on next row, 5 sts
K1 - this k1 brings you to 6
yo - yo will make 7
ssk - decrease, 8 sts
k3 - then knit the last 3 for 11 sts.

What’cha knittin’?

You should have the same 11 stitches. The YO’s are increases and the k2tog and ssk are decreases and there are two increases and two decreases. Are you doing the stitches correctly? Go to the videos on increases and decreases to check if you are before anything else gets confusing.

Remember that a yarn over doesn’t use a stitch. It makes a loop over the needle between two stitches.

February Lady Lace Headband. I think I was doing the yarnovers wrong. Thanks!
