How many of you are using the norwegian purl?
I have just taught myself this weekend and think i really like it. It’s all part of my converting to continental knitting this year.
Let me hear from you if you are using this method for purling.

I don’t use it, but I could see where many people would like it. From looking online, it creates a looser gauge on the purl rows.
I learned about a year ago when I was in a learn different ways to cast-on class. The instructor was knitting the ribbing of a sock and I was amazed at how fast she was motoring along. I’m so glad that I learned, it wasn’t that hard and I see no real difference in my gauge. Currently, I am finishing up a Norwegian sweater for my college age, ~six foot tall son. The Dale pattern that he picked had a simple two color stranded design, but the main body and arms are knit in a two row moss stitch repeat—the body alone is 266 stitches around —all k1p1 for almost 20 inches in a DKwt. yarn—Norwegian purl has made it all so much easier. Also, prior to learning Norwegian purl, I was primarily a combined continental (pick the yarn up under the needle and knit through the back on the reverse side) purler—now the regular continental purl stitch is so much easier to do and I switch around to meet the situation.

Learning to purl Norwegian improved the dexterity of my fingers, and I was able to start purling Continental much more smoothly afterwards.
omg, i am SUch a DORK~ I clicked on the norsky purling and thought…Holy Ole, Lena! I have been doing this all along and didn’t know it. Then I realized I clicked on the English Purling method, uffdah there is no english norsky purling ( I say norsky cuz I rarely spell norweg…norwige…well you get it) :teehee:
