Here’s a simple, little scarf I knitted for a girlfriend in Noro (just one ball), not quite big enough for a man, but perfect for a lady, hope you like it?
If you like the pattern, it’s called horseshoe lace. Here it is:
cast on in multiples of 10 sts plus one.
Work 5 rows of garter stitch
Row 1 (RS) K1, *YO, K3, s1 K2tog psso, k3, yo, k1, rep from * to end.
Row 2 and all even rows: purl.
Row 3: K2, *yo, K2, s1 K2tog psso, k2, yo, k3, rep from * to last 9 sts, yo, k2.
Row 5: K3, *yo, K1, s1 K2tog psso, k2, yo, k5, rep from * to last 8 sts, yo, k1, s1 K2tog psso, k2, yo, k2
Row 7: K4, *yo, s1 K2tog psso, yo, k7, rep from * to last 7 stst, yo s1 K2tog psso, yo, k4
Row 8: purl
these 8 rows form pattern
When you’re happy with the length, work 5 rows of garter stitch
Gorgeous! Love the colors and pattern. Who wouldn’t be thrilled with such a beautiful gift?
Love it, DavidSydney63. You’re a sweetie for sharing (and for knitting it for a lady friend). Wish I was one of your lady friends.
before I attempt to knit one, can you tell me: does it curl up? would it be ok to knit sides to prevent?
It does have a tendency to curl so I added 5 stitches on either side of garter stitch AND I blocked it when it was finished (moderately hot iron, steam, over a tea-towel).
forgot to mention - I added 5 rows of garter stitch to the beginning and the end of it (sandwiching the layers of pattern).
Lucky girlfriend!
Lovely colors, lovely pattern, lucky girl friend!
I just saw this! (How did I miss it?)
Such a lovely, delicate scarf! I love the bold colors paired with the lace. Very well done, David.
She’ll love it! The colors are bright and beautiful!
