"No-Hair-Day" Hairy Chemo Cap

I just finished this hat for Mason’s mom. I used Rowan Calmer 482 (Powder Puff) along with Eyelash, by Trendsetter Yarns, Color 12. I purchased the yarn at KnitWitz this past weekend while in Jacksonville attending a soccer tournament.

You can find the pattern here. Mine doesn’t look exactly like the picture because I used eyelash yarn instead of the FIZZ yarn recommended by the pattern. The eyelash yarn has longer strands.

It’s a fast knit – very simple pattern. I started it on Saturday night. One adjustment I made was to knit this using magic loop. I discovered that I didn’t have size 9 dpns, but I did have size 9 tips for my Options cables. Thank goodness!

I selected pink because Mason’s mom likes pastels.

I think I would like to make this again using fun fur or the yarn recommended in the pattern. Regardless, I will be making another hat with the same yarn but in a different color.

I LOVE the name of it and wish I’d thought of a “hairy” hat for someone who didn’t have any for a while due to chemo treatments.

DEFINITELY the eyelash yarn made it!
