That’s a great idea! Maybe I won’t feel so scared.
For the hat on Stitch Diva, one of the yarns recommended was Lion Brand’s Landscapes, which is a super bulky yarn (11 stitches on size 13 needles = 4"). For the hat at SnB Nation hat, the yarn is a worsted (16 stitches on size 9 needles = 4"). I was a bit disappointed with the SnB hat (I just got it out of the library) because to me, it appears to be more of a baseball cap style, http://photos1.blogger.com/img/145/2475/640/capzoom.jpg but maybe that’s just how the picture looks? I kind of like the Stitch Diva hat better http://www.dreamweaveryarns.com/catalog/images/pageboylandscapes.jpg, but I can’t go to the library to get that pattern!
Thanks for your vote of confidence on cables, too. You know, I don’t know why I stress so much about trying new stuff. All I have to do is take some yarn in my stash that I’m not using and just start practicing things like new increases, decreases, cables, etc. (just like you suggested). Maybe I don’t have to jump into “new territory” while starting a project, but I can practice the new techniques on something I don’t care about, so that if I mess up, it’s no big deal. I just learned how to do an i-cord recently so I was very proud of myself :happydance: , and so maybe I’m making some of this stuff out to be harder than it really can be.
