Newbie to group here with a question

Hello everyone,

I have a question that I hope someone will be able to help with. I have only been knitting for a almost a 2 yrs. I am trying to make a scarf that pattern reads. cast on even number of stitches, 1st row. *YO, sl1, K1; repeat from * How are you to do YO and then a slip stitch. The YO is on a salvege edge.

Welcome!

Well the slip is easy, you just slip it from one needle to the other. Something in the pattern instructions should indicate whether to slip it knit-wise or purl-wise.

The yarn over is easier to show than explain. Check out the video section for increases, the YO is at the bottom of the page.

Thank you for you help. I guess I was more confused because the very first stitch is a YO then right into the slip. I did go and watch the video and with yarn in hand worked it at the same time. to my surprise it worked out… I hope. will let you know when i finish.
