Newbie problem help please!

I’ve been knitting for a few months and am enjoying myself immensly - mostly making stuff up as I go along and sticking to quick and simple where I can.

This weekend I had an idea to knit a ‘shoulder scarf’ or shawl type of thing an was aiming for a rectangle roughly 12" x 30". Using 2 yarns of aran as one and on 10mm kneedles I cast on 33 stitches then *K, YO, K2tog on row 1. Row 2 was just knit then repeat from begining.

Simple?

Well the pattern turne out as I’ imagined but once I cast off the finished item was… pointed? The top right corner was 2 inches higher than the left corner and the bottom left 2" lower than the right???

I’ve not tried blocking it as I actually quite like the way it sits but I have no idea why it’s done it or how to prevent it in future.

All ideas and advice greatly appreciated! Thank you x

It could be your CO and/or the BO was a little tight, that could make it skew. What yarn did you use?

I used a bargain bin aron wool - 2 skeins worked together so it was more a chunky weight. Can’t be much more specific as there was no label on it!

I meant what fiber, but it could have been very loosely twisted and that can cause biasing. Look at this article.
