Hello everyone,
I’m new to the forums here and am also a newbie knitter. I’ve just started my first project with circular needles-- a baby blanket. And I seem to be knitting a big tube, not the flat blanket I had intended!
Any ideas about what I’m doing wrong? Tips and advice greatly appreciated! :knitting:
Hi and welcome to KH! It sounds like you might have joined the ends and are now knitting in the round…when you knit flat on circs you don’t join the two ends together but instead turn your work and work back just like on straights :happydance:
Aha! I think that’s exactly what I did.
I was following the instructions on the circular knitting video, but clearly that applies to knitting, well, circular projects!
Thanks so much. I’m off to undo alllllll my stitches.
Yep, you can use circular needles just like straight ones, and they’re more comfortable to use, whether it’s a scarf or a blanket.
I use circular needles for everything now. Once you get the hang of it you’ll like it a lot.
One hint… make sure the working yarn is coming from your left needle when you start a new row. Once the work is in progress then it’s on the right needle. If you start out with it on the right needle it joins the work.
