Newbie help with pattern

Hello.

I have watched the “abbreviations explained” section. It is very helpful!!! Thank you. But it didn’t solve my problem :frowning:
So here is my question. The pattern writes: R1: Knit. R2: K1, *yfwd, sl 1, K1, psso, rep from * to last st, K1. Doesn’t each psso makes you have 1 st less? How come in the pattern, it has indicated that R1 will have the same number of st as R2??? Please help. thanks

See where it says yfwd? When you have your yarn in the front and knit the stitch after you slip one, you’ll get a yarn over increase to offset the psso.

Thanks Ingrid. Now I can continue to make my swatch… is it what you call swatch? the first test for tension. :cheering:

Yes, the dreaded swatch–a necessary evil!

Acutally, is there a difference between sl knit wise and sl purl wise in this lace pattern?

Usually for sl, k, psso, you slip knitwise–makes it a bit tighter. Is that what you mean?
