New to forum, new to knitting

Hi everyone,
I started knitting last night and I am still at the confused and frustrated stage. I have learned to cast on and the knit stich, but what work I have done looks kinda weird. But I am determined to make it work.

I live in Kentucky, married (for 25 years) and mother of 4.

I appreciate any knitting advise I can get. I have a goal to knit some sort of Christmas gifts this year.

I’m new too and the training videos on this site have helped me GREATLY! I sit in front of the computer screen with my yarn and needles and just keep doing it with the video, pausing and replaying over and over. WAY better than trying to learn out of a book.

Welcome! It gets easier!

Welcome to the forum!

When you are learning the best thing to do is just keep practicing. CO 30 stitches or so and then just knit, knit, knit. Don’t rip it out if it looks wonky, just keep going. Soon you will see that your knitting becomes more even. Once you get the hang of the knit stitch then learn to purl and practice that. Once you know those two stitches you’ll know the basics of knitting and can move on to lots of patterns! :cheering:

I agree with Jan!! Welcome to the forum!! :waving:

Welcome :waving:

I am new here but have done some knitting but not great at it yet!

I get most of my help from the videos here because you can just keep watching them over and over if you are like me and need a little extra help.

Good Luck and keep us posted as to how it is going.

 Sharon

Welcome! And as Jan said, just keep plugging away at it. It does get easier!

Welcome!!

Welcome to KH and the Wonderful World of Knitting :waving:

Hi there! welcome to the forum!!     I totally getcha the first thing I knitted looks like a deformed pink cloth, but after that it only gets easier

:cheering: Glad you found the KH, it’s the antidote for those crazed times. I had to clean off my desk this afternoon because I’d misplaced my KH CDs. Whew, I was in panic mode. Don’t give up, this frustrated time will pass.

:cheering: Welcome to the forum!! I agree with the above don’t rip it out just keep on going… that was prolly the best advice I recieved when I started… or was it more like an order  I kept ripping and ripping finally someone told me stop and make it into a scarf… :happydance:

:cheering: Nice to have you here! Its really fun and helpful. Don’t be afraid to ask anything … there is no dumb questions here!! xxx O and don’t forget the most important thing have fun!

:cheering: welcome, Gennylynn! :cheering:

Welcome! :waving:

Yep, I’ve been ripping out my knitting. I did manage a 2 X 4 strip that looks pretty good.

I’m working on a scarf for now just using the kniting stitch. I figure by the time I get it done I should have k stitch down pat.

I do have a BIG problem with my stitches being too tight. I can barely get them off the needles. I try to CO loosely but it gets tighter as I go.

So, no more ripping out - just knit and laugh.

Thanks to everyone for your warm welcome.
