Hi everyone I have not been on the forum for a little while . I have been away visiting friends in Lubbock Texas. While there I went to a lovely yarn shop and picked up a set of denise circular needles . I cannot wait to try them out on an afghan Pattern this Fall. I am fairly new to knitting so it should be fun trying them out

New Needles
Fran…you will love them! If you are going to make an afghan though, you might want to purchase one of their longer cords. I think they come in 42" and 50"

The set says to use the extender to join 2 cords and make a longer one . I think I will try a a smaller afghan first just a 104 stitch cast on so the 29" should do. Hope your right
Fran
yep, you can do that. If you ever get into knitting a big afghan though, the longer one might just be easier. I bought mine HERE for only 3.25. I got it so I could try the “magic loop” method… it!
Thanks for the link . I wondr what they would charge to ship to canada or I may find a place here to order one

Since you have a set of these needles can you please help explain something . The instructions say you can use these needles as straight needles. They say use the round buttons on the end of the cord. I feel kind of dumb but do you not need 2 cords of the same lenghth to use the needles as straight. Then you would place a button on the end of each cord?? or do you simply use one cord and turn your work at the end of the row instead of joining in the round
Fran
You could use the caps, but you don’t really need to. Just knit back and forth on the one cable needle without joining. I find the caps are much more useful with a cord as a stitch holder
Thanks I thought that might be the answer

My sister lives in Lubbock, Texas !!!
Hi Debbie .Your sister is very lucky . We love Lubbock . We met our friends on a cruise and have been there 3 times . Going back again next september 2006. They have a great little wool store there . That is where i bought my needles

With respect to longer cables and afghans…I am currently doing the afghan from h-e-double tooothpicks with Addi 17’s, 32 inch cable, I cast on 100+ stitches (found out I cast on 4 too short, oops…have to make a few pattern adjustments LOL)…and trust me, I would be happier if I had a longer cable. I am scrinching and pulling all the time it seems…I can’t even imagine the horrors of doing thies on straight needles.
I went ahead and ordered the extensions from wild and wooly…the price was right and then I will have them the next time I want them.
