Hi, I’m new to this forum. I’ve knitted before, but really never enough to get very good at it. Well, I’ve decided to try to get good at it and started my first “big” project yesterday. It’s a cable twist sweater and so far so good. only one question i have if someone can clarify it for me…it says slip 1 wyib which i know means slip 1 stitch with yarn in back. I was wondering if i slip the stitch off as if i were purling (needle down into stitch), or as if i were knitting (needle up through stitch)…and when i slip stitch, I’m guessing yarn in back is just keeping the yarn you have in your hand behind the needle (which is what i normally do anyway when i slip stitch). You’re help would be appreciated. I can’t wait to see how this turns out and I will post a pic of it when it’s done. I’ve seen some of the projects you have all done…you are all so good! I look forward to meeting you all!
Welcome to KH :waving:
Generally you slip sts purlwise unless stated otherwise in the pattern. And yes, wyib is just holding the yarn in the back of the needle as you do when doing a knit st, you are absolutely correct
Wow, thank you for the quick reply! I’ve been enjoying looking through some of the topics…I hope to get as good as you all. Thanks for the warm welcome!
