Can anyone help? I have this text in the instruction, but cannot understand it (it’s only for a scarf…)

Row 1 (RS): using shade A knit
What do they mean by Right Side? And should that be a row of stitch or purl?

Row 2: Using yarn A K2, P11, K2
So, this means, knit 2 stitches, then purl 11 stitches, then knit 2 stitches…? This totals to 15 stitches - my cast on instruction was for 18 stitches.

Rows 3 to 14: As rows 1 and 2, 6 times
I don’t understand this at all.

Determined to get there. I appreciate any knowledge you have out there.

They are just telling you that your first row is the right (as opposed to wrong) side. You still knit like it says with color A.

I’m not sure about the row 2 thing. You are right that it’s only 15 stitches. Are there any other instructions in the top about always knitting/purling the first and last stitches?

The last part just means to repeat rows 1 and 2 six times. It might help if you re-wrote it out on a piece of paper so you know where you are.

Thanks Lisa. This does help me. Hadn’t even realised that RS was opposite to WS (thought it was left and right… Yep, am a real beginner here).

without any other evidence i would guess that it was suppose to be 15 stitches cast on and that the 18 was just a typo.
