hi i learnt to knit as a child and have decided to take it back up. I decided to look online for some advice as i didn’t know how to cast on , when i found this website . The casting on video was fantastic very easy to follow so decided to look at the knitting styles to see which i did, when i realised iv been doing both techniques without knowing.
Does this make a difference / matter as i seemed to just interchange between the two and would like to start making scarfs and things.

You mean english and continental styles? Shouldn’t matter at all as long as the item comes out looking like you want it to. Some people knit continental on one row, and purl english on the next. They’re happy.
I’ve knitted English/thrower for over three years but needed to change my tactics because a hand strain. I now knit English and purl/pick Continental. Welcome to the knitting forum!
I use both techniques myself, depending on how bored I am =P
It doesn’t matter which technique you use as long as your gauge stays pretty constant throughout your project.
