New Knitter - Adding in a new yarn

Hello everyone! I am new to knitting and have been making alot of scarfs…

So. I have a question this is the problem that I am running into see attached photo…

I knitted one black section first then when I wanted to add in the white I just started knitting it in. But then for some reason I went to add black in to the 3rd section of knitting and I got that werid line where I joined the yarn.

What am I doing wrong? and how can I fix it?

thanks much!

That’s normal, the only thing you can do is make the color change less noticeable on the right side is to start with the new color on the right side. Since it’s a scarf, you really won’t be able to hide it, it’s just how the stitches interlock. You can call it part of the design.
