New here with cable question

Hi everyone,

I am working on the great american aran afghan and one of the cables have me confused.

2/1/2 RPC (Sl 3 to cn, hold to back, k2; sl last st from cn to LH needle and p it; k2 from cn)

It this what they are saying to do? Slip 3 stitches to the cable needle and hold it to the back of your work, then knit 2 off the left hand needle, then slip the last stitch from the cable needle (which would be the first stitch I slipped off) back to the left hand needle and purl it, then k2 the last 2 from the cn?

I think this is how it reads, but why would you slip the last stitch back to the LH needle to purl it, why not purl it from the cn? That is where I don’t understand it.

Thanks,

Kathy

I read “slip the last stitch from the cable needle” to mean the one farthest to the left on the cable needle, the last one you slipped, which would not normally be the first one you’d work from the cable needle.

I’m with Abbily. Let us know how it goes…

Oh ok, I see what you’re saying. I am using an extra DP for my cable needle to hold my stitches and I had scooted all my stitches down to the opposite end from where they were when I took them off my other needle. I can see that this stitch is going to be a pain. LOL

Thank you so much for your help!!

Kathy
