I am knitting the Hoodie Dog Coat from bernat.com. My question is this. In the back shaping part, the instructions say Cast Off 6 but it continues to say Cast off 6 sts beg next 2 rows? Huh? Does that mean Cast off 6 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows? So if this is what it means, do I cast off immediately the next 2 rows or do I cast off 6 first row, knit the rest of the row, cast off 6 second row purl the rest of the second? Help please. Thank you all so much! I’m sure I’m going to be asking more questions about this one.

Yes, it’ll be over two rows. It’s the only way to do it and the yarn in the right place. So cast off 6, knit across, turn and cast off 6 again. You’ll be knitting on the center stitches only most likely.
Thanks Jan! Just for clarification, since the pattern is knit 1 row, purl 1 row, I cast off 6 knit to the end, and cast off purl to the end of the second row. I have come WAY too far on this pattern to mess up now! Thanks again!

Told you I’d be back! I’ll be glad to show a pic when it is finished. Here’s the next question. Instructions say, slip 1, knit 1, psso. Does this mean slip one , then knit one the move the slip over the kinit onto the left needle? Thanks!

I’m also working on this pattern and I’m a little stumped with the back shaping finish to hood step.
I’ve just completed the Sl1. K1. psso section, bringing my number of stitches down to 26. I get the "cont even until work after neckband measures 10 ins, ending in a purl row. Leave sts on a spare needle."
Where I get confused, is the hood section:
"Place markers along cast on edge on 6th st from each edge. (RS) Pick up and knit 29 sts between markers along cast on edge."
How exactly do I knit 29 stitches, when the pattern had me reduce it to 26 sts? I don’t see any mention of an increase.
Any help would be much appreciated!

The [I]cast on[/I] edge is at the neck end. The 26sts that you’ve just finished are at other (er, rear) end. The instructions are to pick up 29sts at the cast on edge which was 40sts cast on. If you mark 6sts from each end, that leaves you 28sts of the cast on in which to pick up the 29sts for the hoodie, so about one st in each and one more between 2 sts.
Ahhh, I didn’t read the pattern or catch the part where she’s been decreasing stitches. That makes more sense.
