New Brand of needles

I was at Joann’s tonight, and my SA brought out all these needles that Deborah Norville came out with and they are inter changeable needles with 3 different size cords, So I bought a set. Has anyone tried these before? They are made from a much smoother wood then the bamboo ones. I am so excited to start a scarf or blanket with the ones I bought I got size 7,8,9 and 10.

has anyone used these before?

They look like Knit Picks Harmony needles. What’s the cable like? Is it really flexible?

ETA http://www.herrschners.com/product/Deborah+Norville+Specific+Interchangeable+Set.aspx They really look like the Knit Picks and Knitter’s Pride needles. Is it possible I can now buy them locally and not have to wait for delivery? I’ll have to see if the JoAnn I go to has them. Nosy question: How much did they co$t?

it seems like it and it comes with a 24,32 and 40" cord and yes very flexible seems to be very nice I can tell you these where on sale but still expensive at $24 for the three set

re flexible cables: In thisvideo, I think Amy is using the Knit Picks cable. Is yours like what she’s using? If so, you got a good deal for sure.

yes only hers are medel and mine wood

Cool. You done good. You could expect the Sunstrucks to be about the same I think. Those cables are fantastic!

Interesting…looking at these I am pretty certain they are made by the same manufacturer that makes Knitter’s Pride needles (and formerly knit picks). They have the same size and type of packaging, same size marking stickers. I am positive the cords will be the same flexible cords people are used to with Knitter’s Pride and KnitPicks.

The Comfy interchangeable set, hmmm, where have I heard that before? Oh yeah, the Comby sets. The difference being that the Comby is a sampler of 3 needle types and doesn’t include the extra 32" cord and end caps.

I need to get sock circs, from the smallest size to I guess size 3, and I keep putting off. Any chance things will allow you carry them before too much longer, Sheldon? You looked a lot more closely than I did at those needles. LOL I really do think they’re the same too. I wonder if Knit Picks has seen a drop in sales or an increase in returns since, reputedly, their needles aren’t what they used to be.

We’re are now carrying Knitter’s Pride Novas fixed circulars in 16" and 24" in common sizes.

I am out of #3 in 24" length but have one or two in 16". We are planning on expanding to 32" and 40" lengths as well as carrying other styles and DPNs, but probably not until late summer. Summer tends to be a bit slower, so we need to wait until things pick up in to shop before stocking our shelves.

Thanks for inquiring!

Sheldon

Is postage to us Downunder as prohibitive as I suspect it is, please, Sheldon? - 'cause if it ain’t, I’d ask you to nominate for me your best complete set of interchangeables …
It’s just not possible to find anyone in Sydney who doesn’t have an axe to grind or an agenda to push in this regard.
OTY, then.

Hi Marg1e,

Unfortunately, the postal rates for international DOUBLED during the last postal price increase a few months ago. All of the full interchangeable sets weigh about 16 ounces when packed up and cost about $20 USD to ship to Australia. It used to be $10. The Comby sampler which weights about 6 ounces now costs $15 to ship to Australia, up from $7. It’s crazy. Such a steep increase is ridiculous and has a lot of sellers fuming. We have looked into alternatives such as DHL and Fedex, but their prices are even more obscene.

So those are the facts. I wish we could offer a cheaper shipping option for our international members.

Thanks,

Sheldon

It really is extraordinary: I can have stuff posted to me from the UK for far less than it costs from the US of A.
I wonder what the devil this is all about? - why is US Postal so down on we Downunder?
Never mind; and thanks very much, anyway!

I don’t think they have an agenda. All international rates doubled. Our post office has been teetering on bankruptcy for years, so they’ve been implementing price increases pretty frequently. This last price increase was definitely brutal and will have a real effect on small businesses that ship internationally like KnittingHelp.com.

Our postal service has had a hard time coping with the increasingly digital world we live in. Rather than innovate and become more efficient, they just keep increasing the prices. It’s too bad.
