I have started a new blanket, and I am going to use it as a bedspread. I have cast on, now I am just starting, but I already don’t understand (I am on row 1 and just starting the bramble stitch)… Actually- maybe I do, but I need some clarification. It says “In next stitch, purl 3 together” I know how to purl 3 together, but I am not sure how to do that “In next stitch.”

New blanket
Hello!!!
I read through Row 1 of the Bramble Stitch panel and the “in next stitch” goes with the k, p, k. Not the P3
So the first row will be:
K1 p1 k1 all in the next stitch; then p3 stitches together
Do this all the way across the row
Im pretty sure you were reading the “in next stitch” to go with p3. But instead it goes with the k1,p1,k1
Let us know if that helps

Thanks!
I found a video on that- Now I get it!
Now I am on row 3 of the bramble stitch, (Ok, coming along nice!) But now, row 4-15 says repeat last two rows- last two rows of what- the bramble stitch or the border stitch, I am confused about the instructions here. It seems I can manage the techniques, but I am unclear about the instructions!
Repeat the entire border pattern including the bramble stitch. The border pattern will be a 2 row repeat while the bramble will repeat all 4 rows.
What a stunning blanket pattern! Enjoy every delicious bit.
What a beautiful blanket! Please share a picture when you’re done!
I am sorry, I still don’t understand (I feel dumb that I don’t get this)…The last row of bramble
stitch is purl- but there are no instructions about what to do with the first three and last three stitches for row 4 and what am I repeating?
Perfectly good question. These set up and border rows are always an obstacle to get over. I usually work them 3 times at least before it falls into place.
Row 1 of the border is mainly row 1 of bramble with 3sts on either side as edges.
Row 2 of border (RS) is mainly row 2 of bramble, all purl with the edge sts worked as given
Row 3 of border (WS) is mainly row 3 of bramble with the 3 edge sts.
Row 4 of border. The edge sts are worked as row 2 of border pattern, that is
first 3 sts Slip 1, p2, slip marker, bramble row 4, sm, p2, k1.
Row 5 of border. The edge sts are worked as row 3 of border: Slip 1, k2, sm, bramble row 1, sm, k3.
Keep repeating rows 2 and 3 of the border until you’ve completed the given number (6 more times). At the same time the bramble stitch repeats as rows 1-4 of the Bramble stitch pattern.
Think of the border patterns as a frame on either side of the Bramble stitch pattern. The border repeats rows 2 and 3 under Lower Border directions while the bramble repeats row 1-4 of the Bramble stitch pattern.
