I have a complaint against my brand new addi turbo’s (lace)…
it sounds like nails on a chalkboard everytime the needles hit one another! [One of the needle tips is rough… if you run your nail along it, you can literally feel the roughness (the other is smooth as silk!)]
Seriously, I can’t knit with these… my eye is twitching just remembering trying to knit one row with that sound!
Well, there’s $20 down the toilet (there’s a note on the reciept - no returns on needles or patterns)
Any suggestions besides throwing them in the garbage? Has anyone ever come across this problem and solved it somehow?
Maybe the smooth needle is intended to be used as right hand needle, whereas the rough surface of the other needle should hold the stitches back, so they don’t slip off the needle…
I work in a yarn store, and we have the same policy. What you are dealing with is a defective set of needles. Different story all together. I suggest to take them back to the store and ask to exchange for the the exact needles.
The rough tip is actully not uncommon in Addis. We run in to it quite a bit. We always take out all needles and check them for rough spots. We then have the customers verify as well.
Give it a try, if they want to keep you as a customer they’ll make it right. The store won’t be out any money, because they can return the defective needles to their distributor.
Remember to say the needles are DEFECTIVE.
Good Luck
They should allow you to return them as defective for an exchange. If they won’t do it, contact the manufacter via email.
I love Addi needles and have never had a problem with them so far. The store where you bought them should stand behind them. Esp for the price you pay for them.
I absolutely LOVE my lace addis and I have several different sizes - ok maybe more than several LOL - and I’ve not run into any probem at all but I’ve had a few nubs on other addis … I used a very fine piece of emery cloth to smooth it out and that was that. Good luck with your return.
