Hi. I have seen this in some patterns… what does negative ease mean?? :??
Ease is how much extra you knit to make a sweater fit without clinging.
Negative ease means that the piece will stretch to fit your body.
My understanding of negative ease is that the measurements of the finished object are smaller than the measurements of the person. So for example, a sweater that finishes with a bust measurement of 35" would have negative ease if worn on a person with an actual bust measurement of 36". So garments with negative ease are designed to fit snugly, and garments with lots of ease are meant to be baggy.
Yep, zero ease means something is exactly the same size as you. Negative ease means it is smaller than the wearer. Positive ease is bigger.
