I’ve been using bamboo dpn’s for my socks and love the grippiness of them, but now I want to start using 2 circulars and it is suggested that you use 2 sets of different colors and they bamboo ones are all the same color (whew, talk about a runon sentence!) So what are your favorite circulars (and where do you get them) for socks?
Thanks!
Cheryl
I used to use regia dpointed, but I recently changed to 2 circs. I use 2 Knitpics fixed circulars. They are both the same colour and truely, it did not take long to sort the 2 needles out! I just had to be very careful when casting on Judys Magic cast on for toe up socks. I think you will be fine with 2 of the same coloured cable.
By the time you have finished the first sock you will be a pro!
Another vote for Knit picks fix circs…
although following that…I would go with Addi Turbos
thanks for your replies, where do you find these needles, is there a link to an online source?
Thx,
Cheryl
O.k. I found both. So to piggy back on my own post, Silver says to get 16 or 24" ones, what length do you prefer (I’m trying to do one toe up on 2 circs.)
Cheryl
I vote for 24" (60cm) ones. I got the 16" ones after the 24" just to try them but the needle part was just too short for me. I use my 24" for scarves or anything really. It is a good length for lots of things. 24" for me!!!

knitpicks needles are here.
they are my favorite ones, too. I also have a pair of size 0 by Inox.
When I was first learning the 2 circ method, it was recommended to use different color needles and/or different lengths. It helps to make sure you’re using the correct 2 ends. Once you’ve done a few pairs, it’s not so important that they be dif lengths/colors - it’s not too difficult to make sure you’re holding onto the same needle in both hands.
16" is OK if you’re only making one sock at a time, but I prefer 2 socks at a time so I like 24" but also have some 29" (it’s too long, but usable). Right now most of my needles size 0 - 1 - 2 are all 24". My size 3 are 24" and 29", but I don’t use them too often anymore for socks.
If you are doing the socks at the same time like I do then the same length is okay. If you think you might get confused at which needle to use the either use a st marker of the same color on both ends of the circs or a dab of finger nail polish . I only use a longer length for after I have picked up the gusset sts. Same length is too small and after the gusset is worked I can have them both on the circs at then same time. Tried db points and they drove me crazy. Kept starting out with five and always managed to have three. After that it was circs for socks.
