I’ve been knitting a garment with Addi size US 2 ~ 3.00 mm. I have to knit sleeves and I have wooden US2 but the metric measurement is 2.75 mm. What should I do? Should I look for a 3.00 mm or just use what I have?
Thanks in Advance for opinions and knowledge!
Im not an expert in needles, but I tried to use metal needles to knit the body of a sweater and bamboo needles to make the sleeves… even though they were the same size, they knitted different… I had to unravel everything.
Do a swatch with the 2.75 and see how much difference there is. Or maybe you can do Magic loop with the Addi…
Thank you both for your thoughts!
I’m going to see if I have 3mm size metal dpns - if I don’t then I might look up this magic loop thing… I’ve never done that but there is a first for everything, I suppose!
Or if you have another Addi in that size you can always do the 2 circular technique for knitting in the round.
Addi is unique like that with their sizing. You have to be careful. You should be able to get the correct DPNs at Knit Picks though if you can wait and order.
I do have 2 of these addis… I should look up how to do that too…
Do you think if I have a 3.00mm metal set of DPNs I would be ok?
You’d be fine with a set of 3.00mm dpns if you can find them. If you can’t, here is the page with a link to the videofor how to knit a small circumference in the round on 2 circular needles.
