Does anyone know what gauge of needles I should use if I want to have a tightly felted scarf? How should I felt it? Is there a best way to do felting?
Any replies/answers would be greatly appreciated.

Most felted objects are knit with larger needles; it’s the felting that tightens them up. If you knit with small needles I wonder if it might be too stiff after felting.

If you use the needle size recommended, the thing won’t felt properly at all (I know because I tried ;)). I recommend that you double-strand worsted weight yarn using size 15 needles–that will give you a relatively thick scarf that should felt beautifully.
