Need yarn help, please

My daughter wants a slouchie/beanie type hat. We found some yarn at Pacific fabrics that she really liked. I’m having trouble finding a pattern though on Raverly. The weight/ply is throwing me off.

We bought 3 of these so 150 gms

Fiber: 80% Merino Wool, 20% Nylon
Weight: 50g Yardage: 95yds / 87m
Needle size: US 9 - 10 1/2
Gauge: 4 - 4 1/2 sts per 1

It says this is aran weight on the website and it’s 1 ply. The aran on raverly says aran/10 ply. I’m confused.

Can someone steer me in the right direction? I use the advanced search but I’m not sure I’ll have enough yarn.

Thanks!

Don’t worry about the plies. Plies in the old days were more important than they are now for figuring out weight. I’d say this is an aran weight or heavy worsted.

Just choose a hat that is aran or worsted weight and you should be fine.

Here’s a guide to both ply and US weights, and a wpi chart to identify the weight. The needle on the label gives you a clue too as to what weight it is.
