I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on where to get variegated 100% non-wool (including cashmere, angora etc) yarn. There’s a few out there that I’ve already tracked down, but would like to find some more, widen my options a bit. Any weight is good - especially either end of the scale (lace weight and extra chunky).
Just need some new ideas but am horribly allergic to yarn with any animal-originated content, which limits my options somewhat. I just love the look of variegated yarns - they look so much prettier and there’s amazing colourways for them, just want ones that won’t make my skin fall off
Any links or ideas would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Fi xxx
I’ve become addicted to yarns by HandMaiden lately. The two I keep coming back to are SeaSilk (silk and seacell) and Rumple (100% silk boucle). They both come in the most amazing color combinations and work up so pretty.
I recently ordered some custom dyed yarn on E-bay. Her store link ishttp://stores.ebay.com/raggedyannsyarn. I just got it today, and it is amazing. She can get any weight yarn you want.
I too can’t use wool. I don’t even like to work with it for someone else’s gift. Angora and fluffy fibered yarns bother my contacts, so they are out too. Some acrylics even make me itch! But I do LOVE cotton! Here is a link to some fabulous varigated colors in a great 100% cotton yarn - and only $2.25 a skein is a steal:
Elann.com has some fantastic bargains and lots of free patterns.
I also love Red Heart Casual Cotn Blend. It is all varigateds. It has enough cotton in it that I am not bothered by the acrylic. Herrscners and Joann’s sell it among others. It is a little pricey - but the skeins are large.
Wow, these are really beautiful - god I wish I had a lot of money to buy it all! The Handmaiden seacell stuff looks like something I would love to get at some point, and those cotton yarns are beautiful. I love bamboo yarns, they’re so soft! And I had a look on ebay and found not only the beautiful ones linked, but an ebay shop in Britain which I’ve been bad and ordered lace-weight silk from : http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/naturaldyestudio
I just love variegated yarns - they inspire me to so much more than plain colours somehow…
Oh god, I have no money! But hey, who needs food when I can knit cupcakes?
Fi, I’m going to pm you. I ordered a skein of Sea Silk that isn’t going to work out for me color-wise. If you think you’d use it, this can be my first international RAK. :happydancing:
