I am trying to make a scarf for my brother who just got transferred from sunny Los Angeles to Boston and who has no winter clothes. I got him to pick out two skeins of worsted yarn in a “manly” color, but I’m stuck for pattern suggestions. I showed him the scrunchie scarf I’d made for myself, and he pronouned it “too girly” (yeah, I know… but that’s what he said!).
[b][color=indigo]I posted this a couple minutes ago somewhere else, but it’s a pattern I made up although I won’t say it’s not out there somewhere either!
CO a multiple of 4 +2 sts. I think I CO 42 for the one I’m making now.
Row 1: Sl 1st st as if to K, K1. Bring yarn to the front Sl next 2 sts as if to P. Put yarn in back and K2 sts. Repeat across ending with K2.
Row 2: Knit across
Repeat these two rows until scarf is as long as you like. It looks like ribbing, but is a firmer fabric and there is no purling involved. Try a swatch and see if you like it.
