Having finished the cardie, I am now moving onto a throw as a moving house present for my Mum.
On reading the pattern before starting, I am a bit stumped by this row:
Row 5: P3, *P into the space between the st just worked and the next st, P1, rep from * to last two sts, P2 (see pattern note)
note: When first working pattern row 5 on each square, work the stitch by going under the two horizontal loops between the stitch just purled and the next stitch. On the next and subsequent repeats, there will be a much clearer space under the horizontal loops.
:?? I’m having a bit of trouble working out what this all means :wall: The throw is made up of 30 squares, if that helps any!
Thanks
Thanks for the reply, but I am not sure that is what they want - the picture shows holes. It looks a bit more like the yo at the bottom of the link you posted. Oh dear!! I think this one may be too hard :verysad:
It seems to me that judging by what you previously wrote:
work the stitch by going under the two horizontal loops between the stitch just purled and the next stitch. On the next and subsequent repeats, there will be a much clearer space under the horizontal loops.
the emboldened part would account for the holes you mentioned. As you will be picking up two horizontal loops as opposed to the regular one that is picked up with a M1L/R this will give you the effect of a y/o without actually doing one.
Sorry I didn’t reply sooner - life gets in the way of forum time!
I think a y/o would be looser than the double-stranded M1 described in the pattern but I couldn’t tell you for sure. Either way you gain a stitch so that wouldn’t be a problem so I would put it down to whichever method you prefer.
Maybe doing a swatch of both methods would give you a better idea of which would be best.
