Need opinons

i want to make a quilt/knit baby blanket… do you think it can be done. here is an example of the quilt i’m gonna use and the knitted blaket thats going to be the back.

this is the blanket that i’ve been knitting. its the log cabin from Mason Dixon book

i’ve done a lot more but i can’t seem to get my pic off my camara… stupid camara :grrr:

and this is a baby blanket that i finished in January. its goona be the same pattern just different colors.

so what i’m gonna try and do is sew them together with some batting in the middle and tye ribbons to hold them together instead of quilting it… think it will work???

I can’t see why it wouldn’t work. Worst that can happen is that it doesn’t, and you have two blankets instead of one.

Great job so far! I’ve wanted to do the log cabin blanket but was put off by the concept of picking up stitches. Now that I’ve done a few pairs of socks, I’ve got some experience under my belt.

What a creative gal you are!

:cheering:

thanks. i was thinking the same thing about ending up with 2 blankets! i finally got my camera working so heres what i got so far on theknitted part

Great job on both of the blankets - I especially love the green quilt! - but if the knitting is heavier than the quilting, won’t that make the knitting sag? Are both made of the same types of fiber? Please correct me if I’m wrong.

they are both made of cotton. i thought of that to. so i’m not quilting it.

actually, your knitted blanket might act as both batting and backing for your quilt. The tiny air pockets formed by the knitting will provide insulation enough, I suspect. Even made of cotton, this blanket will become extremely warm and heavy. Baby will likely be very toasty, even without the batting.

good point. i hadn’t thought of that… so should i put interfaceing on the back ot the quilt so the back/strings or thread won’t come through?
