My boss asked me fix this sweater and I agreed because I’ve never repaired and thought it would be a learning experience but I have no idea where to start or even what this stitch is and how to do it… please help… it’s all much appreciated

I would use a solid, white surface under the knitted item to be able see the stitching better.
