Need help

I am working on this pattern:

http://www.alchemyyarns.com/142design.html

The lace is a simple 10 stitch repeat, with 7 stitches at each end of seed and 3 seed stitiches in the middle

7 seed, 4 repeats, 3 seed, 4 repeats, 7 seed.

Everything is fine until I hit the decreases for the waist, dec 1 stitch at each end of next row, then every 8th row 3 times, got that part…

the NOTES say:

When increasing and decreasing in lace pattern, work in stockinette Stitch until increases and decreases are matched. This will insure the accuracy of the stitch count. Work all increases and decreases in pattern when working in Seed Stitch.

So how on Earth do I keep the lace going, and decrease only 2 stitches every 8th row on a 10 stitch repeat. It takes appx 32 rows to get all 4 decreases in then you work 1 inch even then reverse it to add the 8 stitches back in so another 32 rows.

Help…

Because you are decreasing at each end. For this particular part of the pattern, you will only be decreasing in the 7 seed stitch portion on the ends of your rows, not in the lace at all. I would suspect that the lace decrease instructions will come into play later, like on the sleeves.

OK, so if on the back that I am on now, I will end up down to 3 seed stitches on the outter edges, then a few rows later go back up to the normal when I add the increases back in, I hope!

I had been told to maintain the 7 stitches on the sides as that is where you hook it together, plus once I get up to the armhole I still do not know how to decrease in the lace pattern.

If you want to maintain the 7 stitches and decrease in the lace pattern, you could do that. For decreasing in the lace section, it looks like the stitch that is left after decreasing is worked in stockinette stitch - not in the lace pattern (so that after all of the decreases it would be 1 stockinette stitch, 5 stitches in the lace pattern). It could also mean that you work the lace repeat that will contain the decreases in stockinette stitch, but I would try the other first.

See that is what confused me! I mean even if I work that dec row in stockinette, the next purl row pattern will be off, I aam not great with charts and am trying to figure out how to lose stitches in the lace an still keep the pattern! Driving me crazy! LOL!

Could you share the lace repeat pattern with me? I might be better able to explain it that way.

If you are worried about putting it here, you could pm me.

The lace repeat is 8 rows by 10 stitches. I did get hold of someone on Raverly that did this pattern and she told me to keep the seed stitches at 7 all the way through, and that I could either worth one repeat in stockinette or get brave and graph the chart for the decreases.

I guess since I need to do that on the front panels and sleeves I will get brave and work the chart for partial rows, yippeee! LOL!
