Can you provide a different photo, or tell us the name of the book or magazine from where you got it? I can’t see it well enough to get any sense of the stitch pattern.

It’s entrelac done in one color it looks like to me.
Some patterns are easier to understand than others so I’ve included a few different ones. The first one is a good tutorial with photos if you haven’t done this method before. It can be strange at first.
