Maybe a crocheter or two can offer some help? @OffJumpsJack @Snowfleas
Is there something in particular you need help with?
I’m wondering what it looks like finished. Is there a link to the pattern that you could share? If you’re stuck and let us know where we’ll do what we can to help.
Its a penguin with a ring round its belly its one that aldi was selling a while ago
Ive only done just the standard crochet no patterns like this
I have no idea what your question may be but I think I found a site posting about the penguin pattern bought at aldi’s.
What do you mean by standard crochet? Flat work like potholders and scarves? Not round shapes like hats and doilies?
Or is it the Tunisian crochet mentioned in the article I linked above? Tunisian was previously called afghan stitch.
The above pattern sold at Aldi’s is called an amigurumi type and it is a way of crocheting 3D toy Animal shapes.
Ask your questions and either I or another member will likely have an answer or try to help you.
That’s cute, thanks for posting it. I couldn’t grasp the ring round its belly part but this seems to be what is meant. We’re still waiting for a question I guess.
Hi Samy89;
I can see how this is giving you trouble.
Chain 12
in second chain from the hook, do your first dc plus 9 more along the length of the chain 12 you started with. One dc in each chain. (11 dc total)
(Going into the second chain from the hook forms a 2 chain space or dc., so when you do a dc in the second chain you actually have now got what counts as 2 dc.)
work 3dc in the last (end space) of the chain 12 (15 dc total)
This gets you turned around the end of the row and ready to start up the other side.
Work 8dc up the other side of the chain (23 dc total)
This will form a long oval.
In round 2: Where is tells you to inc, (increase) you will need to do 2 dc in the same space,
then 10dc One in each stitch.
a second increase 2dc in the same space
10dc,
a third inc. (2dc in the same space to increase) Total of 26
Round 3: Continue doing 2dc in the same space each time the pattern tells you to increase.
If you have any more problems I would be happy to do my best to help.
If you crochet is too tight, it starts to turn into a cup shaped oval, and if you crochet too loose, it may start to ruffle along the edge. The solution to either of these problems is to change to a different size hook.
Good luck with your owl. I am sure I am not the only one who would love to see it when it is finished.

Wait!Owl!? How did I misread owl as penguin?
