Need help with technique!

Hi all! Can someone help with this technique in the photos? I’ve been knitting for about 2 years so some techniques are still new to me! I was trying to do some research, are they German short rows? YO’s? Can’t really tell, it looks so cool! Would love to learn the way to do this so I can start trying on my own. Thanks so much in advance!

Welcome to the forum!
Very light and pretty with an interesting combination of techniques.
In some sections very large needle are used with thin yarn to create the lacy fabric. It looks like knit 2 together, yarn over to create the holes. The folds are a hem or tuck stitch.

There are many videos online for short rows and techniques for avoiding holes in the short row turns. German short rows and shadow wraps are just two of the ways to work them.

This is going to take some experimenting on small swatches to get the effect that you want but it should be great knitting fun to put together.

Thank you for this video. The pattern I used for this hat called the pleats “tucks”. Since I’ve never done tucks before and the directions were vague, I had an awful time with the technique!

Time to try the hat again using this great video.

I don’t think the picture posted so I’ll try again

Cute hat. Thanks for the photo and good luck with it. I like the idea of picking up the stitches as much as you can, before knitting together with the sts on the needle.
