Need help with sweater pattern!

Hi everyone! I have ventured out and started my first sweater! This is the pattern:

http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patterns/sweshawlcardice.htm

I have completed the back part and I am now on the left front. I have completed the 5" of ribbing, now I am kinda confused on what to do next. This is what I think I should do: Increase 4 stitches on first row-then do I start decreasing 1 stitch every 4th row 16 times–then when it measures 9" total go and do the same “shape armhole” part as I did for the back???

I have work so hard on this I so don’t want to mess it up! Thanks for your help! :sun:

Left Front:
With middle size needles, CO 30 (32, 34) sts and work in k1, p1 ribbing for 5".
Change to largest needles and St st, increasing 4 sts evenly spaced across first row - 34 (36, 38) sts.
Shape neckline and armholes
For neckline: at end of RS rows, dec 1 st every 4th row 14 (15, 16) times. At same time, when piece measures 8 (8½, 9)" from beg, shape armholes as for Back.
When Front measures same as Back, BO as for Back shoulders.

This is what I think I should do: Increase 4 stitches on first row-then do I start decreasing 1 stitch every 4th row 16 times–then when it measures 9" total go and do the same “shape armhole” part as I did for the back???

You have it correct. The neckline shaping starts as soon as the bottom rib is established so once you’ve added the add’l increases begin the neckline decs and then shape the armhole as you did for the back when you reach the 9"…if that’s your sz.

Post a pic when you’re done!

ETA: just remember when you do the right front your shaping is reversed. While the neckline and armhole decs will be worked on the RS, the armhole BOs will occur on the WS (as you did on the back). BTW, if you were working both fronts, simultaneously, on a circ ndl, you could shape them them at the same time much like you did the back.
