I’m knitting a sock pattern (Toe to Top in Leisure Arts’ “Socks to Go” booklet) that calls for short rows. I’m knitting it as if it’s a heel flap, which I do know is wrong, but I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do, needlewise.
The heel foundation round is like so:
Foundation Rnd: K2, pick 7 sts along Turning Heel, K46, pick up 7 sts along Turning Heel: 62 stitches. *I am OK until I get to the first row…
Row 1: K8, leave remaining stitches unworked; turn
Row 2 (Decrease row): slip 1 as if to purl, P13, P2tog, turn
Row 3 (Decrease row): (slip 1 as if to purl, K1) 7 times, SSK
Rows 4-22: Repeat rows 2 and 3, 9 times, then repeat row 2 once more
Row 23: (Slip 1 as if to purl, K1) 7 times, SSK: 40 sts
I keep ending up knitting a heel flap!
Has anyone knitted a similar pattern or seen anything online that might shed some light on this? I feel totally dense!!
