You did a double YO, but this only creates ONE long stitch. The thread is continuous and you are only working ONE loop of it, while drooping the other. If you did three YOs, dropped two loops and worked one you would have an even longer stitch, but still only one.
The double yarn over in row 2 gives you quite a bit of yarn for the k1, k1tbl, k1, k1tbl. I get a bit of leftover strand at the end (one corner of the scallop) that looks like it should be closed up but it evens out if you tug a bit at the sts. Make sure that you’re doing the [K1,K1 tbl] twice or that strand will be even longer.
It is a really pretty edging.
Thank you for the videos and it appears that I am doing this correctly, but still getting unwanted results.
When I[B] [k1, k1tbl, k1] twice into the yo, p1[/B] I am still getting a strand of yarn that stretches across the opening- its not one clean hole.
When I come to the double yo I drop the extra loop leaving a single yo. Then I knit in the front of the loop like a normal knit stitch. Without removing the stitch from my LN, I knit in the back of the loop. I repeat this process one more time (knit in the front, then knit in the back). Then I finally slip the stitch off my LN. I purl the next stitch and this is when I see this yarn stretching across the hole that has been created.
When you finish the k1, k1tbl, k1, k1tbl, the working strand of yarn is coming off the LH needle as usual and you then purl. Is the extra strand from the working strand or can you tell if it’s part of the yarn over or coming from somewhere else? If you could post a photo of both sides of the knitting, maybe that would help.
Yes the strand is coming from the YO. I tracked where the strand is coming from and its the front leg of the YO. As I am working these 4 stitches into the YO, it pulls the front leg of the YO across the hole I am creating.
I know I am doing something wrong. It just looks like from the videos that I am performing the increase correctly.
Give me a little bit to post a picture of what I am doing.
After the first k1, k1 tbl, try dropping the yo off the left needle and then picking it up again with the left needle. I can’t do the second k1 unless I do this to reposition the yo.

The photos do help. I wonder if the problem is the yarn over on the previous row? The yarn over should run from just below the sts on the right needle to the sts on the left needle. It looks a little like the yo is only connected to the sts near the right needle?
(btw, I don’t think it’s causing your problem but the original post gave the pattern as (k1, k1tbl) twice.)
