Need help with Moss/Seed stitch

Hi! I’m still a newbie at knitting and trying to learn as I go along. Unfortunately, I’m having trouble figuring this out… :?? Btw, I’m knitting a slipper with a sole and the sole pattern are as follows…

cast on 24 sts.
Beg moss/seed st sole as foll:
1st row [K1, p1] to end
2nd row Cast on 1 st, [p1, k1] to end, cast on 1 st. 26 sts
3rd row [P1, k1] to end.
Cont in moss/seed st as set and taking inc sts into moss/seed st, inc 1 st at each end of next and 2 foll alt rows. 32 sts.

I don’t understand how to do the line in red…

 1. For the begining ‘cast on 1 st’, I did a knit stitch without dropping the old stitch and move the new stitch from right needle to left. That would creates a new stitch on the left needle. Then, do a purl knit on the new stitch and knit on the next stitch and continue p1, k1. Am I going it right?
 2. How do I do a ‘cast on 1 st.’ at the end of the stitch? Do I leave 1 last stitch at the left needle and do as in #1 above? Or, is it done differently

Thanks in advance!!

It sounds like you did an increase in the last stitch. They want you to cast on one. Check out the videos above and you can do either a backward loop cast on or a cable cast on for the one stitch.

You can cast it on the left needle and then slip it to the right for the beginning of the row since it’s only one stitch, work across and add another one at the end of the row.

Just saw the video. I’ll give the backward loop a try! Thanks!
