Need help with knit 1 wyif

I am new to this forum and need a little help with a stitch I cannot figure out.

It says to knit 1 with yarn in front. I tried to go online and cannot find anything that tells me how to knit with the yarn in front.

Please help.

Bring the yarn to the front and knit the next stitch, this makes a yo and incs a stitch or will make a hole for lace. Usually though, the term is yf not wyif; are you supposed to knit the next stitch or slip it?

I am supposed to slip the next stitch. That makes sense to me now. I have done that before but have never heard it called that.

Then what happens after you slip the st? Does the pattern say to bring the yarn to the back and knit a stitch, or does it say to knit one and psso (pass slip st over)?
