Hi - I am working on the back of a sweater, and do not “get” my next innstructions… here is what I have done so far

cast on 96 - knit 7 rows

dec round 1 - k9, skpo, k29, k2tog, k12, skpo, k29, k2tog, k9

knit 7 rows

dec round 2 - k9, skpo, k27, k2tog, k12, skpo, k27, k2tog, k9

knit 7 rows

dec round 3 - k9, skpo, k25, k2tog, k12, skpo, k25, k2tog, k9

knit 7 rows

and here is where I do not understand!! (i am at 84 sts now) I do not understand the terminology, and cannot mathematically figure how to get to 52 stitches…

On each decrease row you’re losing 4 stitches.

You’re at 84 now.

Work the decreases on as you have been on the next row (the 8th in the series) and continue working them with 7 rows between the decrease rows 3 more times. That will take away 16 more stitches to get you to 68.

Then you’ll work the decrease rows with only 5 rows between them 4 more times. That will decrease you another 16 and get you to 52.
