Need help with gusset

Hi

I am trying to make a bunny toy knitting. I knitted the arms, head now the gusset - The directions says work in garter until work when slightly stretched measures length to fit around outer edge of front. What does outer edge mean? I have more questions with this pattern but one step at a time. Thanks

Do you have a link to the pattern? I think we might need a bit more information to figure this out. If it is in a book, what book? Maybe someone will have it. Or you can quote part of the pattern. Don’t quote the whole thing because that violates copyright.
